Requirements for an Authorized Educational Visit

Authorized Educational Visit means authorized visits to campus, less than eight hours in length per visit, by elementary and secondary school groups, or similar youth educational, civic, or athletics organizations, that have registered in the minor protection registration system and signed a written agreement approved by Risk Management and Safety explicitly making the school or organization solely responsible for supervising its students while on campus and indemnifying BYU for any liability that may arise from the visit.
BYU Minor Protection Policy

Authorized Educational Visits must be in compliance with each of the following:

  • The visit must be arranged through a sponsoring organizational unit of BYU.
  • The visiting school or organization must enter into an agreement with BYU approved by BYU Risk Management and Safety which
    • Makes the visiting school or organization solely responsible for supervising its minor students while on campus; and
    • Indemnifies BYU against any liability that may arise from the visit.

Please contact Risk Management for assistance with an Authorized Educational Visit agreement.

  • The hosting BYU organizational unit must register the visit in the minor protection registration system prior to the visit.
